Iran shot down a US drone over the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf on June 20, 2019. All eyes are on President Donald Trump to see how the world’s superpower will respond? Tensions are high as there is justifiable concern that a misstep could start a major war.
Prophecy on the Horizon
Iran is one of the key players in Ezekiel’s prophecy, found in Ezekiel chapter 38. Persia is the ancient name of Iran. Iran will eventually join a collation led by Russia to attack Israel. Gog is the leader of Russia. That person might possibly be Vladimir Putin. God will intervene to save the Jews.
God states through the prophet Ezekiel, “I will turn you around, put hooks into your jaws, and lead you out, with all your army, horses, and horsemen, all splendidly clothed, a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords.” God goes on to say, “And it will come to pass at the same time, when Gog comes against the land of Israel,” says the Lord God, “that My fury will show in My face.”

Saber Rattling
The New York Times is reporting that plans had been approved by President Trump to launch a retaliatory strike. However, after meeting with military and congressional leaders, the cabinet, along with national security advisors and other key personal, the strike was put on hold. Some are calling it a cunning strategy, others are calling it a choke. Has Trump allowed Iran to cross a ‘red line’? You may recall that he lambasted President Obama for allowing Syria to cross a red line for using chemical weapons. What do you call it?
So, why is Iran doing so much saber rattling of late? The sanctions imposed on Iran by the United States is crippling their economy. It might be that Iran is trying to drive a wedge between the US and Europe, who apposed the US pulling out of the nuclear deal, which contributed to the sanctions. Iran might also be testing the metal of President Trump. If they sense weakness, it will embolden them. Not just Iran, but North Korea, Russia and every other enemy of the US.
The coming days will tell if this situation is a one-alarm fire or a full blown firestorm. Even if this is merely a grass fire, a firestorm is coming according to the Bible.
