A Changed Heart
In May of ’22, businesses across America announced that they would pay expenses for ‘persons’ who had to travel out of state to get an abortion. This was their response to the leaked supreme court opinion that Roe v Wade might be overturned.
In a previous video entitled, ‘Travel Expenses’, I asked a question in general, but it’s more specifically to businesses who assist in, and some ways, incentivize abortions. The question was, ’What cold possibly go wrong?’
In this second installment of Travel Expenses, I ask the question of you all, ‘What could possibly go right?’
What could go right? A woman who has a known condition that will cost her life in pregnancy or childbirth can live to rear the children she already has. Birth control is not 100% effective, so this can have little to do with planning.
What could go right? A child who will die soon after birth due to serious deformities or genetic conditions can be spared the pain and often the consequences to the mother.
What could go right? A woman–or young girl–who has been raped abused by incest can avoid the emotional, mental, and in the case of young girls, physical trauma that results from carrying a baby to term and giving birth.
Please understand: Women still die from pregnancy and birthing. Children still are orphaned. Adoption is not THE answer, it is one answer if the mother’s life is not in jeopardy and the child is adoptable. Not all are. For most women who give up a child for adoption, it is not a rose-bowered act. The trauma lasts for the rest of her life.
I’ll leave the financial and social realities for others to comment on.
